UK Softball Named 2017 Easton/NFCA All-Academic Team

The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team will do battle with the Murray State Racers for control of first place in the OVC on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at EKU Soccer Field.
WHAT TO KNOW
– EKU (7-3-3, 4-0-2) remains atop the Ohio Valley Conference standings with 14 points. Murray State 9-1-1 (4-0-1) is right behind the Colonels with 13 points.
– The Colonels walked away with two road wins on their road trip through Illinois last week, defeating Eastern Illinois, 2-0, on Friday and SIUE, 3-2, on Sunday.
– Junior defender Kacy Eckley and senior midfielder Allison Werner scored their first goals of the season in the win against EIU.
– Senior forwards Emmi Carroll and Jordan Foster each scored in the Colonels’ win over defending conference champions SIUE. The pair leads EKU with five goals each on the season. Carroll headed in the game-winning goal in the 77th minute off a free kick from freshman defender Katie Shaffer, while Foster used a left-to-right crossover in the 15th minute to create separation and find the back of net.
– Sophomore midfielder Marian Wolski became just the seventh Colonel in program history to record two assists in a game at SIUE on Sunday. She is tied with Foster for the team lead in assists this season (three).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
– Murray State defeated UT Martin, 3-1, on Sunday.
– Murray State is led by Harriet Withers, who is third in the country in scoring with 12 goals on the year.
– The Racers have not lost a regular season OVC game since October of 2014.
– EKU is 3-8-1 all-time vs. Murray State, and the Colonels have not defeated the Racers since 2013.
WHAT’S NEXT
The Colonels will travel to Alabama to take on the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Friday, October 13. First touch is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
