EKU WBB Hits The Road To Take On Austin Peay Saturday

Eastern Kentucky University’s women’s basketball team hits the road on Saturday to take on Austin Peay State University.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.

INSIDE THE SERIES

– This is the 85th all-time meeting between the two teams.

– Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series between the two teams, 49-35.

– The Govs have won four straight in the series.

THE COLONELS

–  Eastern comes in at 4-3 (3-0 OVC), and in first place of the OVC after knocking of Eastern Illinois, 80-69, Wednesday night in Richmond. 

–  The Colonels are off to their best start in OVC play since the 2016-17 season. 

–  Emma Hacker led the way for the Colonels offensively. The sophomore posted a career-high 22 points and seven rebounds in the win. Hacker was 7-for-7 from the field and 6-for-6 from the three-point line. 

–  Anysa Jordan chipped in 18 points and four rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench.

–  EKU is ranked 37th in the country in three-point field goal percentage defense. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

–  Austin Peay comes into the contest at 3-2 (1-0 OVC), after knocking off Murray State, 64-60, on Dec. 19 in Murray.

–  The Govs are led by the Ferby twins, who lead their team averaging a combined 24 points per game.

–  Austin Peay ranks 30th in the country in three-point field goals per game and 80th in the country in three-point field goal percentage.

–  APSU ranks 54th in the country in steals per game.
