Louisville Lacrosse Enters IWLCA Top 25 Poll at No. 24

Following an impressive 12-5 victory over No. 24 Colorado on Sunday and a near-upset against No. 9 Denver on Friday, the University of Louisville women’s lacrosse team has entered the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Top 25 poll at No. 24.

The Cards’ entry into the poll is largely due to the outstanding play of goalkeeper Sara Addeche, who recorded a total of 21 saves in the first two games of the season. Addeche recorded 14 saves in the team’s win over Colorado on Sunday, helping to secure their first victory of the season.

This marks the first time that Louisville has been ranked in the IWLCA poll since concluding the 2021 season at No. 25.

With the addition of Louisville, the ACC now has seven teams represented in the IWLCA Top 25, including three in the top five: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 Boston College, and No. 4 Syracuse.

The Cardinals will look to continue their strong play when they host Lindenwood, the 2022 Division II National Champions, on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. With their recent success and entry into the IWLCA poll, Louisville will undoubtedly be looking to build on their momentum and continue their climb up the rankings.
