Louisville Track & Field Shines on First Day of Tiger Paw Invite

The University of Louisville track and field team made a strong showing on the first day of competition at the Tiger Paw Invite on Friday, with standout performances in the women’s pole vault and sprints.

Aliyah Welter came in second place in the women’s seeded pole vault with a mark of 4.15m (13-7.25), narrowly missing her fourth victory of the season. In the women’s unseeded pole vault, Natalie Lark took the gold medal with a personal best clearance of 4.05m (13-3.5), while Auriane Viola came in fourth place with a clearance of 3.85m (12-7.5).

Sterling Warner-Savage also had a strong showing in the men’s 60m dash, finishing third with a time of 6.59 in a highly competitive field. The women’s 60m dash saw Taylor Herbert run a personal best of 7.35 in both the preliminary and semi-final rounds, tied for the third-fastest time in school history.

Synclair Savage rounded out the day with a fourth-place finish in the women’s long jump with a leap of 6.39m (20-11.75).

Competition will resume tomorrow with field events starting at 10 a.m. and will be streamed on ACCNX.
