Thomas More Mens Volleyball Caleb Lipscomb Named Defender of the Week

The Mid-South Conference announced their Men’s Volleyball Players of the Week on Monday afternoon, and for the first time in program history, the Saints were represented. Sophomore middle blocker Caleb Lipscomb (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills/ St. Francis Brooklyn College) was named the Defender of the Week.

Thomas More had two matches last week against Central State University and their MSC opener against Campbellsville University. They won both matches by scores of 3-1 and 3-0, respectively. This was the team’s first-ever win against Campbellsville.

Over those two matches, Lipscomb played a crucial role in the team’s success. He amassed 15 kills and 12 blocks (five solo, seven assists). Against the Tigers, he had eight blocks (two solo, six assists) while also hitting .615 (9-13). This season, Lipscomb has 19 total blocks (10 solo, nine assists) and 20 kills over 11 total sets played.

Lipscomb’s strong performance not only earned him recognition as the Defender of the Week, but it also helped lead the Saints to two important victories. It’s clear that he has been putting in the time and effort to perfect his game and help his team succeed.

The Saints are back in the Connor Convocation Center tomorrow evening in an MSC match with the Midway University Eagles at 6:00 p.m. They have a 5-2 all-time record against Midway, and will undoubtedly be looking to build on their recent success with another strong performance.
