Kentucky MBB Freshman Chris Livingston Declares for NBA Draft

Kentucky men’s basketball freshman forward Chris Livingston has declared for the 2023 NBA Draft while maintaining his collegiate eligibility. Players have the option to submit paperwork for evaluations from the NBA and participate in the NBA Draft Combine, which will occur from May 15 to 21, if invited. The deadline for players to return to school is May 31.

Livingston expressed his gratitude to the University of Kentucky, stating, “Basketball means everything to me, and it was a dream of mine to be a part of an incredible basketball program like the University of Kentucky.” He thanked Big Blue Nation, his teammates, coaches, and staff for their support throughout his journey.

The Akron, Ohio native also acknowledged the impact of his family and the people who have motivated him, saying, “From middle school, high school, and AAU to now, many people have helped motivate and inspire me to achieve my goals.” Livingston thanked his mom, grandparents, brother, and sister for their sacrifices along the way, before formally announcing his declaration for the 2023 NBA Draft.

During his freshman season at the University of Kentucky, Livingston played in all 34 contests, including 26 starts, averaging 6.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. The talented forward played 22.4 minutes per game and earned Southeastern Conference (SEC) All-Freshman Team honors. He had an impressive stretch in February, with seven double-figure scoring games, including four in a five-game stretch. As a result, he was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 20.

Kentucky’s head coach John Calipari praised Livingston, stating, “I’m excited for Chris and his family to go through this part of the process on his journey.” Calipari highlighted Livingston’s growth throughout the season, noting his ability as a scorer, reliable defender, and relentless rebounder.

The upcoming NBA Draft Combine, scheduled for May 15-21, will offer Livingston an opportunity to showcase his skills and improve his draft stock. The 2023 NBA Draft is set for June 22, and it remains to be seen where the promising forward will land.
