Louisville & Bellarmine Baseball Teams Unite for Community Healing

On Wednesday night, the University of Louisville and Bellarmine University baseball programs will come together at Jim Patterson Stadium for a special game focused on community healing and solidarity following Monday’s tragic events in Louisville.

The two Division I universities will join together for a pregame ceremony and moment of silence to honor the victims of the tragedy. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, following the city-wide vigil taking place at 5 p.m. ET. Admission to the game will be free for all individuals.

“Like all of us who call Louisville home, these two programs fiercely love this city,” said Louisville Director of Athletics Josh Heird. “As Scott Wiegandt, Chris Dominguez, Dan McDonnell, and myself all discussed the idea of playing this game, we had one simple objective in mind – can we somehow help this city heal from the tragic events that transpired on Monday. We are hopeful this game is one way we might be able to offer a small reprieve as we navigate this time as a community.”

The game is part of Heroes Week at Jim Patterson Stadium, with a weeklong focus on recognizing the first responders in the city of Louisville. The recognition will continue through the previously scheduled Heroes Weekend three-game series against Wake Forest. By coming together for this game, the University of Louisville and Bellarmine University hope to foster unity and healing for the community during these difficult times.
