Louisville Lacrosse Gears Up for Season Finale vs Notre Dame

The University of Louisville lacrosse team is set to face off against Notre Dame on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET in the Arlotta Family Lacrosse Stadium. This showdown marks the end of the regular season for the Cardinals, who currently hold a 5-10 overall record and a 2-6 standing in the ACC.

Recent Performance

Louisville recently celebrated a narrow 14-13 victory over Duke on senior day at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium. The win was largely attributed to an outstanding defensive performance by junior goalie Sara Addeche, who matched the program record with 17 saves in a game, including 11 in the second half. Rachel Florek was the only other Cardinal to achieve this impressive feat back in 2020.

Offensively, Perroni led the team with six points, contributing a season-high five goals and one assist. The senior extended her goal-scoring and point-scoring streaks to 34, tying the program record for goal-scoring streak held by Emily Dashiell (May 1, 2009-April 29, 2011). In addition to her scoring efforts, Perroni collected three ground balls, six draw controls, and two caused turnovers.

Negai Nakazawa had a career-high four points, earning her first career hat trick. The freshman also managed two ground balls, two draw controls, and one caused turnover. Hannah Morris contributed a hat trick as well, her fourth of the season. Allegra Catalano, Kokoro Nakazawa, and Izzy Seikel each scored a goal, while Tiffany Natoli provided an assist.

About the Irish

Notre Dame (11-4, 5-3 ACC) is coming off a convincing 21-6 win over Robert Morris, with four players recording hat tricks and a total of 11 individuals scoring a goal. Kasey Choma and Mary Kelly Doherty each scored four goals, with Choma adding one ground ball and two draw controls, while Doherty tallied two ground balls, nine draw controls, and one caused turnover. Goalkeeper Lilly Callahan recorded seven saves in 53:06 minutes of play. The Irish have managed to keep their opponents to fewer than 10 goals in 10 games this season.

Series History

The Cardinals have only won two of the 15 matchups against the Irish. In their most recent meeting in 2022, UofL suffered a narrow 14-15 loss on April 23 at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium. The team will be looking to end the regular season on a high note with a victory over Notre Dame.
