Louisville T&F Wrap Up Successful Weekend at Jim Freeman Louisville Invitational

The University of Louisville track and field teams concluded their split weekend on Saturday, showcasing exceptional performances at the Jim Freeman Louisville Invitational. The Cardinals secured six event victories and 31 top-five finishes, along with 33 personal-best performances throughout three meets during the weekend.

At Florida’s Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, senior Sterling Warner-Savage broke the Louisville men’s 100m record, clocking a time of 10.13 seconds, good for seventh place in a highly competitive field. The previous record of 10.15 seconds was set by Warner-Savage himself last season at the NCAA East Region Preliminary Round.

In Louisville, three athletes recorded top-three finishes in two separate events, with each claiming an event victory. Madeline Castleberry started the day with a win in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, clocking 11:11.81, and later secured a runner-up finish in the women’s 3000m with a time of 10:27.40. This marked a personal best for Castleberry, beating her previous record by nearly 30 seconds.

Louisville native Jaylen Cole made history, finishing third in the men’s 100m with a time of 10.40 seconds, making him the third-fastest Cardinal in the event. Later, the freshman won the men’s 200m in 20.99 seconds, marking the third-best time in the program’s history.

Grigoris Nikolaou dominated the jumps, winning the men’s triple jump with a mark of 15.25m (50-0.5) and finishing third in the men’s long jump with a personal-best leap of 7.32m (24-0.25). Freshman Noah Carmichael won the men’s 400m with a time of 47.13 seconds, a top-ten time in the program’s history. Isaac Kiprop claimed the gold medal in the men’s 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:02.91, while Sadie Morris ran a season-best time of 2:09.63 in the women’s 800m, securing another Louisville event victory.

Other notable performances included Ryan Farrell’s second-place finish in the men’s 800m with a time of 1:50.60, and Jourdin Edwards’ runner-up finish in the women’s 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:00.36. Bryan Hudson placed in the top three in both the men’s shot put and discus throw, recording throws of 18.04m (59-2.25) and 54.89m (180-1) respectively.
