Murray State Baseball Wins 4th Straight In 10-0 Shutout vs Alabama A&M

Murray State baseball extended its winning streak to four games with a commanding 10-0 victory over Alabama A&M on Tuesday at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky. Redshirt sophomore outfielder Dustin Mercer continued his hot streak at the plate, securing three more hits, including a home run in the first inning.

Mercer’s batting average for the year now stands at .348, boasting 10 doubles and nine home runs, with an impressive 13 hits in his last 19 at-bats.

Sophomore third baseman Carson Garner contributed to the offensive onslaught with his fourth home run of the year—a three-run blast in the second inning. Garner also managed a single and a pair of walks during the game. Seth Gardner added to the excitement with two doubles, an RBI, and two runs scored against the Bulldogs.

On the defensive front, Ethan Lyke and Cade Brown teamed up to deliver the Racers’ first shutout of the season, racking up eight strikeouts and allowing a mere two hits.

Murray State will quickly return to action with a 2 p.m. matchup on Wednesday against former conference rival UT Martin at Skyhawk Field in Martin, Tennessee.
