Thomas More Baseball Overpowers Miami-Hamilton, 19-9 in 7-Innings

Thomas More University’s baseball team secured an impressive 19-9 victory over Miami-Hamilton in a 7-inning game on Tuesday afternoon, April 11th. With this win, the Saints’ overall record improves to an impressive 26-4.

Game Highlights

Miami-Hamilton took an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. However, the Saints quickly responded in the bottom of the inning, with Bailey Martin’s single scoring Gavin Pearson and tying the game at 3-3. The Harriers retook the lead in the top of the second, but the Saints soon evened the score again at 4-4.

The Saints seized control of the game in the following innings, with key contributions from Derek Atwood, Cooper Daniels, Brennan Martin, AJ Enginger, and Gavin Pearson. Miami-Hamilton tried to narrow the gap, scoring one run in the top of the fifth and three runs in the top of the fifth inning, but ultimately, the Saints’ offense proved too strong.

The game concluded in the bottom of the seventh inning, with a final score of 19-9 in favor of Thomas More University.

Player Performances

Several Saints players had outstanding performances, including Derek Atwood, who was walked four times and scored five runs. Jacob Caruso went 3-4 with one RBI, while Brady Baldock achieved a perfect day at the plate, going 3-3 with one RBI and scoring two runs. Gavin Pearson also had a strong showing, hitting two doubles, recording three RBIs, and scoring one run.

On the pitching side, Jackson Grimmelsman, Jack Perdue, Conner Ryle, and Ian Bierbaum all contributed to the Saints’ victory.
