Thomas More MTEN Secures 5-2 Victory Over Shawnee State

Thomas More University’s men’s tennis team emerged victorious against Shawnee State on Friday evening, April 14, with a 5-2 win. The triumph improves the Saints’ overall record to 3-11 and 2-8 in conference play.

Doubles Results: First-year player Jackson Poulos (Edgewood, Ky./Covington Catholic) and junior Juan Pablo Villagrana Francisco (Cordoba, Veracruz/TEC de Monterrey) claimed a 6-4 win over Duarte Melo and Zayden Rinehart. Sophomore Eliot Burer and first-year Samuel Mimbrero Lendinez fell to Matt Stan and Dylan Smith 6-3. Senior Sergio San Pablo (Madrid, Spain/Valdefuentes) and graduate student Gavin Dail (North Hollywood, Calif./Van Nuys) defeated Keenan Lambert and Landon Hodges 6-0.

Singles: Sergio San Pablo lost to Duarte Melo in a tight match with scores of 7-5, 4-6, and 0-1 (3). Jackson Poulos triumphed over Keenan Lambert with scores of 6-3 and 6-1. Juan Pablo Villagrana secured a victory against Dylan Smith, 6-2 and 6-1. Samuel Mimbrero Lendinez defeated Zinedine Arva Purbo 6-1 and 6-2. Gavin Dail was bested by Zayden Rinehart 2-6 and 3-6. First-year Sebastian Guevara (Cusco, Peru/Andino Cusco International School) won 6-3 and 6-3 over Matt Stam.
