Louisville Football’s Jamari Thrash Named to Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List

In a notable announcement released on Monday, University of Louisville wide receiver, Jamari Thrash, finds himself among the select few named to the prestigious Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List.

Hailing from Georgia State, Thrash isn’t new to the spotlight. During his tenure there, he amassed an impressive record, catching 104 passes that totalled 1,752 yards and added 12 touchdowns to his tally. His outstanding performance placed him fifth in GSU’s all-time list for receiving yards and eighth in receptions.

His prowess on the field in 2022 was particularly commendable. Earning himself All-American honors and a place as an All-Sun Belt wide receiver, Thrash’s statistics speak volumes. He caught 61 passes, summing up to 1,122 yards and seven scores. Leading the league, he also secured the 13th spot nationally for receiving yards. A notable highlight from his 2022 season was breaking the school record for receiving yards, amassing 213 yards with just 10 receptions in the game against Charlotte.

The Biletnikoff Award holds a unique distinction in the world of college football. While it might be easy to assume it’s an award exclusively for wide receivers, it’s broader in its approach. The award honors the outstanding receiver of the college football season in the FBS, encompassing players from varied positions – be it a wide receiver, tight end, slot back, or even a running back. The primary criterion? They must catch a pass. This ensures that the Biletnikoff Award is genuinely representative of college football’s best receiver, irrespective of their designated position.

The decision-making process for the award is stringent. The Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a panel made up of 650 esteemed individuals from the world of college football, including journalists, commentators, announcers, past Biletnikoff Award winners, and other former receivers, are entrusted with the task. It’s worth noting that foundation trustees have never cast a vote, maintaining the award’s integrity. A comprehensive list of the committee members is accessible at BiletnikoffAward.com/voters.

With Thrash’s addition to the Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List, anticipation is high among University of Louisville fans. If his past records are any indication, this season might just see another accolade added to his already impressive resume.
