Key Match Details:

Should the Cardinals emerge victorious, they will face the winner of the Auburn vs. Western Michigan clash, taking place earlier at 4 p.m. on the same day. The anticipation is building as the Cardinals, seeded second, aim to replicate the success of their historic 2022 NCAA run.

Team Overview:

The No. 2-seeded Louisville Cardinals, boasting a season record of 24-4 (15-3 in the ACC), finished second in the ACC race. The team’s offensive charge will be led by senior Anna DeBeer, graduate Aiko Jones, and transfer Charitie Luper. DeBeer and Jones recently joined the esteemed 1,000+ career kill club, while Luper showcased her prowess with a career-high 24 kills against Pitt.

The defensive front will be anchored by ACC Defensive Player of the Week Cara Cresse and Phekran Kong. The Cardinals’ formidable lineup includes four-time ACC Setter of the Week Elle Glock and three-time ACC Defensive Player of the Week Elena Scott.

NCAA Tournament Format:

  • The top 32 teams were seeded nationally in pods of four and placed within four regions.
  • The top seeds were given the opportunity to host, in line with established bracketing principles.
  • Team pairings within the pods are determined geographically, following specific rules to avoid matchups between teams from the same conference during the first and second rounds.

The regional winners from the tournament will advance to the national semifinals and championship final hosted by the University of South Florida at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., on December 14 and 17.
