No. 7 Louisville Volleyball def No. 12 Georgia Tech 3-1 for ACC Title

The University of Louisville volleyball team earned a thrilling 3-1 (19-25, 26-24, 25-18, 29-27) victory over Georgia Tech on Friday night in L&N Federal Credit Union Arena. With this win, the Cardinals clinched a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title and improved to 24-4 overall and 15-3 in ACC play.

Outside hitter Anna DeBeer led the Cardinals with a match-high 18 kills, 15 digs, three aces, and a block. Charitie Luper added 12 kills, 13 digs, and two blocks, while opposite hitter Aiko Jones had 11 kills, seven digs, four blocks, and an ace. Middle blockers Cara Cresse and Phekran Kong contributed seven and four kills, respectively, to go along with three blocks apiece. Setter Elle Glock dished out 41 assists, and libero Elena Scott recorded 15 digs and two aces.

Georgia Tech was led by Tamara Otene’s match-high 26 kills. Otene also added 13 digs, two blocks, and an ace for the Yellow Jackets, who fell to 24-4 overall and 15-3 in ACC play.

The Cardinals fought back from an early 2-0 deficit to win the match. They trailed 19-15 in the second set before going on a 5-0 run to tie the score at 20. Louisville then won the set 26-24. The Cardinals dominated the third set, hitting .351 as they cruised to a 25-18 win. Georgia Tech came out strong in the fourth set, taking an early 6-1 lead. However, Louisville rallied to tie the set at 13-13 and then took a 22-21 lead. The Cardinals held on to win the set 29-27.

With the win, Louisville secures a share of the ACC regular-season title and will be the No. 3 seed in the ACC Tournament. The Cardinals will now await their seeding in the NCAA Tournament, which will be announced on Sunday.
