The Lady Colonels received a huge boost heading into Friday’s rivalry matchup with Tennessee State, as the NCAA granted immediate eligibility to transfer guard Kaitlyn Costner.
Costner, a former two-year contributor at perennial powerhouse Ohio State, bolsters an already talented EKU backcourt. Though she played a reserve role for the Buckeyes, the sharpshooter has shined when given the opportunity. As a freshman, Costner erupted for a season-high four points in an early season thrashing of Norfolk State.
Arriving in Richmond as a consensus four-star recruit with Power 5 offers aplenty, the Indiana native led Elkhard Central to its first sectional championship in over a quarter century while averaging 16 points per outing. If Friday’s contest is any indication, Costner appears poised to regain that dominant form under coach Roberts.
