Micah Davis, a standout recruit who committed to Eastern Kentucky University last November, has emerged as one of the six finalists for the prestigious IndyStar Mr. Basketball Award. The coveted title, to be announced at the Indiana High School Sports Awards Banquet on Tuesday, honors the top senior basketball player in the state, as voted by high school coaches and media.
During the 2023-24 season, Davis showcased his exceptional talent, earning all-state honors while leading Franklin Community High School to an impressive 18-5 record and clinching the Class 4A Sectional Championship. His remarkable statistics speak volumes about his impact on the court, averaging 25.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game.
Standing at 6-foot-2, Davis’s versatility and scoring prowess were evident, boasting a remarkable 53 percent shooting accuracy from the field and a notable 37.4 percent from beyond the arc. His offensive prowess culminated in a career-high 43-point performance, solidifying his status as a scoring phenom at Franklin.
Davis’s stellar junior campaign also earned him all-state recognition, further underscoring his consistent excellence on the court. With an average of 17.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, Davis proved himself as a formidable force in high school basketball.
As Davis vies for the prestigious Mr. Basketball Award, Eastern Kentucky University celebrates his impending arrival on campus. The Colonels’ recent success, including their 2023-24 Atlantic Sun Conference Regular Season Championship, sets the stage for Davis to make an immediate impact under the guidance of Head Coach A.W.
