Louisville Unveils Challenging 2024 Volleyball Schedule

The University of Louisville has revealed its highly anticipated 2024 volleyball schedule, promising an action-packed season filled with formidable opponents. With a lineup featuring some of the nation’s top-ranked teams, the Cardinals are gearing up for what is set to be their most challenging schedule in school history.

Headlining the schedule are matchups against 13 teams that made NCAA appearances, including three regional finalists, and 11 opponents ranked in the top 25 at the close of the 2023 season.

The Cardinals will kick off their season with a high-stakes showdown against regional rival Tennessee on September 1. Following this intense opener, Louisville will travel to State College, Pennsylvania, to face the Nittany Lions of Penn State, providing another early test against a top-ranked opponent.

Continuing their rigorous schedule, Louisville will head to Northern Kentucky for a tournament featuring matchups against NKU, Missouri, and South Dakota from September 6-8. The Cardinals will then return home to host the Cardinal Classic, welcoming Creighton and Northern Iowa, both of which were tournament contenders the previous year.

A highlight of the schedule is the annual Battle for the Bluegrass on September 18, as the Cardinals square off against in-state rival Kentucky in what promises to be a fiercely contested matchup.

Late September brings a series of challenging opponents, starting with a showdown against Nebraska on September 21 or 22, followed by a matchup against new conference member California on September 27. The Cardinals will then face Stanford, a formidable opponent that reached the regional finals in 2023 and finished the season ranked No. 5.

October opens with a two-match homestand against Clemson and Georgia Tech, both of which made NCAA tournament appearances last season. The Cardinals will then embark on a challenging road trip to face Florida State and Miami, two formidable opponents from the ACC.

The latter half of October sees Louisville facing off against Wake Forest, NC State, and traditional powerhouse Pitt, before traveling to SMU for a matchup against the Ponies in Dallas.

In November, the Cardinals will face Duke and North Carolina at home before hitting the road for matches against Boston College and Syracuse. The regular season will conclude with home matches against Pitt and a road trip to face Stanford, wrapping up what promises to be an exhilarating season of volleyball action for the University of Louisville.
