After an incredible season where he led the Golden Eagles offensively with a massive 21.1 points and 7 rebounds per game and racked up 675 total points, #1 proved he can shine under the brightest lights at Rupp Arena.
Going head-to-head with the eventual state champions, George Rogers Clark, in the opening round of the Sweet 16, Slone put together a solid performance. He stuffed the stat sheet with a team-high 19 points, dished out a team-high 5 assists, and grabbed 5 rebounds. When the Golden Eagles fell behind, he caught absolute fire, pouring in 15 of his 19 points in the second half alone to keep his squad fighting until the final buzzer.
After getting a taste of the state’s biggest stage, head coach Tommy McKenzie noted that this core group is going to come back even hungrier next year. Slone is setting up for his senior season to make some serious noise! 💯
