Kentucky State Golf Improves on Second Day of Don Benbow Invitational

Kentucky State University men’s golf wrapped up the Don Benbow Invitational at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Course on Tuesday.

The Thorobreds are in the middle of their first week of competition where they are competing in two separate invitationals.

Senior Neal Wells made up significant ground with a strong finish on the final day. On day one, Wells shot an 84, putting him 13 strokes over par, on day two Wells shot an impressive 77. As a result, he jumped from the 34th position to the 25th position at 19 strokes over par.

Freshman Rick McGraw matched his performance from a day ago, finishing one stroke better at 83 for 23 strokes over par, keeping him in the same spot he finished Monday at 31st place.

As a team, KSU shot 332 on day two, one stroke better than the team’s total on Monday. As a result, the Thorobreds finished seventh overall and four strokes better than Ohio Valley University at the eighth spot.

KSU will now move on to the Bulldog Florida Invitational to compete on Wednesday and Thursday.
