On Wednesday night, the Louisville men’s basketball team will hit the road for an ACC matchup against first-place Clemson at 9 p.m. ET. The game will air on Regional Sports Networks (RSN) and will be held at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, South Carolina.
The Cardinals come into the game with a record of 2-14 overall and 0-5 in the ACC, while Clemson is 13-3 overall and 5-0 in the conference. Historically, Louisville has had success against Clemson with an 8-4 all-time record, but they have struggled on the road against the Tigers, with a 1-4 record. The Cardinals won the last meeting at home on February 19th of last year, ending a two-game winning streak by Clemson in the series.
The Cardinals are coming off a 80-72 loss to Wake Forest at home on Saturday, while Clemson edged Pitt 75-74 on the road to stay undefeated in league play and claim first place in the conference.
One player to watch for Louisville is redshirt freshman guard/forward Mike James, who was recently named ACC Rookie of the Week. James averaged 21.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals across two games last week. He had a career-high 24 points and eight rebounds in the game against Wake Forest and made 9 of 16 total 3-pointers during the week. His 24 points are tied for the second-most by an ACC freshman this season, and they’re the most by a Louisville freshman since V.J. King in 2017. James is only the fifth Louisville freshman since 1952 to have a game with at least 24 points and eight rebounds.
Louisville will also have to contend with Clemson’s top player, forward Aamir Simms, who is averaging 14.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
The game can be listened to on the Cardinal Sports Network (WLCL 93.9 FM & WGTK 970 AM flagship), and streamed on Paul Rogers and Bob Valvano, while the RSN broadcast will feature Evan Lepler and Mike Gminski as the commentators. The game can also be streamed and live-stats will be available on StatBroadcast.
This game will be a tough test for Louisville as they take on the undefeated and first-place Clemson. The Cardinals will look to get their first conference win of the season and continue to build momentum behind the strong play of James and other key contributors like El Ellis and Sydney Curry.
