The Louisville Cardinals women’s basketball team secured a 73-65 victory over the Boston College Eagles in an intense matchup on Tuesday night.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was Hailey Van Lith, who put up an impressive 24 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the field, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. Chrislyn Carr also had a strong performance, contributing 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. Olivia Cochran contributed 8 points and a team-high 7 rebounds, while Liz Dixon added 6 points and 3 rebounds.
The Cardinals got off to a strong start in the first quarter, shooting 57.14% from the field and 66.67% from three-point range to take a 21-15 lead. However, the Eagles fought back in the second quarter, closing the gap to 2 points by halftime.
The Cardinals regained their momentum in the third quarter, shooting 46.15% from the field and 83.33% from the free-throw line to take a 54-49 lead heading into the final quarter. They continued to play strong in the fourth, shooting 63.64% from the field and 80% from the free-throw line to secure the 73-65 victory.
The Cardinals’ defense also played a crucial role in the win, forcing 21 Boston College turnovers, which led to 28 points for the Cardinals. The Cardinals also outscored the Eagles 26-12 in points in the paint.
