Senior right fielder Breanne Ray was named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, it was announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon.
Ray becomes the second Academic All-American in program history, joining Meagan Aull, who earned national honors in 2011.
The Benton, Kentucky native is currently hitting .277 on the season with two home runs, and a career-high 28 RBI. She has eight extra-base hits on the season and a fielding percentage over .960.
She has played in, and started in all 56 of Kentucky’s games this season, where she has scored, or driven in the game-winning run in seven of those games this season. Ray had the best weekend of her career on Senior Weekend, driving in the winning runs on Senior Day against No. 4 Texas A&M, and then again on Sunday as the Wildcats closed out the series win.
Kentucky starts Super Regional play on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET against the (3) Oregon Ducks from Eugene, Oregon. The game will be shown live on ESPNU with Trey Bender and Danielle Lawrie on the call.
