EKU Track & Field Gears Up for PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational in Louisville

The Eastern Kentucky University track and field teams are set to make a return to Louisville for the upcoming PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational scheduled on Friday and Saturday, January 26-27, at the Norton Sports and Learning Center. Action-packed competitions will kick off at 10:00 a.m. on both days, featuring a lineup of talented athletes from various disciplines.

The Friday events will commence with the men’s long jump, and eyes will be on Austin Miller, who secured a fifth-place finish at the Bellarmine Open with an impressive personal-best of 6.43m. Joy Scott, showcasing exceptional speed, holds the No. 2 spot in the ASUN rankings for the 200 meters, clocking an impressive 25.20 at the Bellarmine Open.

A highlight on Friday will be the men’s 3,000 meters, featuring five Colonels, including Hakim Abouzouhir. Abouzouhir, a silver medalist from the previous season’s ASUN Indoor Track and Field Championships, aims to impress with a strong performance, building on his remarkable time of 8:07.04.

Irene Rubio Miralles, having demonstrated prowess in the 800 meters, holds the No. 4 position in the ASUN rankings, boasting a swift time of 2:16.60 recorded at the Bellarmine Open.

As Saturday unfolds, the shot put event takes center stage, with Matthew See displaying a personal-best throw of 14.05m at the Commonwealth College Opener. The triple jump showcases strong contenders, with Samuel Carter (14.76m) leading the ASUN rankings and Javon Adams (13.69m) securing the fifth spot in the conference.

The elite mile event on Saturday promises excitement, featuring seven Colonels: Maria Cano, Sydney Little Light, Anouk van Gils, Pedro Garcia-Palencia, Ahmed Kadri, Jackson Siddall, and Keeton Thornsberry.

Joshua Moore, a standout in the high jump, tops the ASUN rankings, achieving a remarkable height of 2.05m at the Sharon Colyear Danville Season Opener. The EKU track and field teams are prepared to showcase their talents and compete at their best in the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, striving for outstanding performances across various disciplines.
