Campbellsville Falls 44-40 To #18 Lindsey In Season Opener

Before a sold out crowd of 3500 in Finley Stadium at Campbellsville University the #18 Lindsey Wilson College Raiders and the Campbellsville University Tigers opened the 2014 football season with a high scoring performance that saw a number of records fall.

Jacob Russell broke the Tiger’s record for single-game passing yards (414) and the single-game touchdown passes (5) record. The previous record was set by Ross Deaton in his debut game as QB in 2008 with 397 yards passing.

CU wide receiver Trevon Chatman broke the record for most receptions (12) in a game and tied the record for most TD catches (3).

The night also saw the record for the longest pass in Campbellsville’s history as Jacob Russell and Demytreus Gipson hooked up  on a 97-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Though the Tigers smashed a number of records it was not enough as Lindsey prevailed 44-40.

The Tigers lead the game early after a touchdown and a field goal but the Raiders scored 22 unanswered points and never looked back.
