Centre Women’s Lacrosse: Bellamah, Gibbons Earn IWLCA All-Region Accolades

The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association recently announced its 2017 All-Region Teams, with Centre junior midfielders Hannah Bellamah (Loveland, Ohio) and Haden Gibbons (Chattanooga, Tenn.) earning All-West Region honors. Bellamah was a first team selection while Gibbons was named to the second team.

Bellamah, the 2017 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Offensive Player of the Year, paced the Colonels with 62 goals and 23 assists on the season, finishing the year third in the conference with 85 points. She also paced Centre with 76 ground balls and 47 caused turnovers while ranking second on the team with 66 draw controls.

Bellamah tallied five-or-more goals in six contests on the season, highlighted by a five-goal, five-assist performance against Augsburg, a career-high 10-point showing. She added a pair of six-goal games in wins over Oglethorpe and Calvin.

Gibbons, a First Team All-SAA pick, ranked second on the team with 48 goals and 15 assists on the year. She added 38 ground balls, 29 draw controls and forced 26 turnovers for Centre. The junior was named the SAA Offensive Player of the Week on Feb. 27 after scoring a career-high six goals in a win over Birmingham-Southern followed by a three-goal performance against Baldwin Wallace.

Gibbons finished with at least three goals in 12 contests on the season.

All student-athletes recognized as All-Region honorees are now eligible for inclusion for the All-America teams which will be announced this Friday, May 19.
